Boiling and chilled water taps offer filtered, instant boiling water and chilled filtered water at the touch of a button. They also help with proper hydration which is essential for healthy living. Having an instant boiling and chilled water tap in your kitchen will save you time, money and effort compared to using a kettle or buying bottles of water.

The best taps for boiling and chilled water have a range of options such as different modes, energy efficiency and easy scald prevention. They also have a contemporary design and are available in a range of finishes to suit your home.

A boiling water tap consists of a tank underneath the sink, that is plugged into the mains and your hot water system to heat the water to boiling temperature. It’s a good idea to get a plumber to install your boiling tap as it involves adding an extra tank, plumbing and wiring. It’s important that the tank is positioned as close to your water supply outlet as possible. The tanks are typically fitted underneath your sink and a standard plug socket should be reasonably close by.

There are 3 main types of boiling and chilled water taps; boiling water only, 3 in 1 and 4 in 1. Boiling Water only taps can be found in our Grohe Red range which is a modern boiling tap with a small footprint – they have a capacity of either 2.4 litres or 3 litres. They use innovative heat exchange and energy reclaim technology to keep the water at the ideal boiling temperature. They are rated A for energy efficiency and use very little power.

These taps are great for kitchen islands as they can be located where you’re preparing your meals or drinks. They are a great option for busy families as they’ll save time and effort from preparing tea or coffee with a kettle and will help you stay hydrated.

The 3 in 1 boiling and chilled water taps are a more popular option as they’ll dispense boiling water and have a regular hot and cold flow from a separate lever. They have a smaller capacity than the boiling water only taps but are still very convenient for most households. Our Nova range has an automatic setting that dispenses a set amount of boiling and filtered water, so you can focus on cooking or cleaning.

The 4 in 1 boiling and chilled water taps have a large capacity, are stylishly designed and are very functional. They can dispense boiling water, filtered drinking water and regular hot and cold water. They have a high flow rate of up to 3 litres per minute and are very efficient.

You can test the temperature of your tap water with a thermometer, which are widely available at cooking shops and baby & child stores. To take a sample of the water, place the tip of the thermometer in the water to see how hot it is – then pour into a glass or plastic container.
