Rare Yugioh Trading Cards
Yugioh is one of the most popular trading card games on the market. It was first launched in Japan in 1999 and then made its way to North America in 2002 with the release of the first set, Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon. The trading card game exploded in popularity in the early 2000’s with kids all over the world eager to get their hands on a pack or two of rare cards and make their mark in the collecting scene.
Cards are typically distributed through booster packs and in some regions, the distribution is managed by Konami while in other areas it’s handled by Upper Deck. Booster packs typically contain five or nine cards depending on the region and the contents of each set will vary. However, the more foiling or holographic highlights a card has the more rare it becomes.
The most rare cards in Yugioh are the ones that were produced for specific purposes such as a Make-A-Wish card or to commemorate special occasions or events. One such card is Tyler the Great Warrior which was printed for and named after a young boy who suffered from a rare form of liver cancer. The card was made for him as part of his Make-A-Wish grant and has been passed down through his family. The card is said to be worth over $9 million dollars but Tyler has never sold it as he knows money doesn’t bring happiness.
A few other reasons why cards are considered rare in the trading card game include how difficult it is to grade them and how limited they were initially released. For example, Cyber-Stein is a rare card in the Yugioh world because it’s extremely hard to find in a PSA 10 grade. This is mainly because of the printing process as it’s not uncommon for cards to have flaws from manufacturing.
Another rare card in the Yugioh universe is Amatsu Okami Of The Divine Peaks. This is unique as it was printed on stainless steel and given away to winners at a special tournament hosted by Konami. Only 92 of these were ever made and they have a lot of value to them as collectors are only going to see a handful of them in this condition over the years.
There are a number of other rare cards in the Yugioh world but these three are some of the most sought after by collectors and are some of the most expensive as well. With a bit of luck and a keen eye you may be able to add some of these cards to your collection in the future as prices continue to rise.
